How To Eat Healthy on the Go

As a professional athlete and model, I know how hard it can be to stick to a disciplined diet when you are on the go all the time or dining out with friends.

Of course we don't want to miss out on a "normal" life with friends or saying no to a romantic dinner with our sweetheart. It's just about planning and making the right choices, and there should not be any reasons to "lock your self in " just because you want to lose a few pounds or even when preparing for a contest.

If you have a hectic schedule which means no time to prepare a meal, there is a lot of good choices out there that's both convenient and healthy.

All fruits and vegetables are both tasteful and rich in antioxidants and other nutrients your body needs. If you are looking for both proteins and carbohydrates (which I highly recommend) there are so many good protein bars to choose from. I just love them myself, and they even curb my craving for sweets:) Just grab a couple when you leave in the morning and you will be sure you get in a couple of good "meal replacements" instead of making quick last-minute choices which often leads to over eating.

You can also go for the "ready-to-drink" drinks, or bring a shaker bottle and a package of meal replacement powder like those supplements made by Muscle Link. Their quality is top notch, and are very, very affordable!

But, to be honest - I think the best thing is to eat solid foods first and then go for the so called "Meal replacements". When I'm really serious with my diet, I prepare all of my food for the next day, the evening before. (If I know I'll be running around, traveling or at photo shoots).

Dining out can sure be a "problem" if you don't know what to choose or how to special order. Especially in US, there is something "wrong" with the portion sizes - EVERYTHING is like Super size, Extra value, 2 for 1, etc....so you better be careful and know your limits.

There is always possible to ask nice and make special orders "off the menu" and get the food you need to stick to your diet. Just go for like a skinless, grilled chicken breast instead of the fried ones with skin. Have a baked potato, steamed rice or veggies as your side choices, instead of French fries, gratinated potatoes etc. Always order your dressings "on the side", and go for the fat-free ones. Salads are great too, if you stay away from the toppings like cheese, bacon, croutons and regular dressings. A Chinese chicken salad is perfect and tasty.

You can order about anything on the menu, just ask for it to be prepared the way you want, and stay away from the "All-You-Can-Eat-Buffets" :) Most of all make sure to have fun, and enjoy your way to a happy and healthy life. Always remember that it should be a LIFESTYLE, not a torture DIET!

Good luck, and remember to tip the Waitress a little extra if you are TOO Picky - just kidding! :-)

With Love
